ServSave® is the most widely accepted food safety and alcohol service training program in the industry and is recognized by many local, state and national health department officials across the country.


Manager Training: ServSafe® (Manager)

Learn about foodborne illness, how to prevent it and how to train employees in food sanitation. Choose from several online, classroom and language options. Earn nationally accredited certification from the National Restaurant Association.


Employee Training: ServSafe® Food Handler

Learn basic food safety practices for preparing and serving food. Earn your food handler certificate from the National Restaurant Association.


Responsible Alcohol ServSafe® Alcohol

Learn the essentials of responsible alcohol service. Protect yourself and your operation from risks and liabilities with alcohol training and certification from the National Restaurant Association.

Be sure to click on the "Regulatory Information” button on the site to determine whether ServSafe programs meet the requirements of the New York County in which your restaurant is located. Note that online courses are not acceptable in some counties and that if you take an online course, you may still need to take the certification exam from a registered proctor.

Find a Class/Find an Instructor:

There are hundreds of ServSafe instructors in New York. Follow these tips to find a ServSafe class or instructor using the website.



  1. In the top left corner of the page, click on "Students” and then on "Find a Class.”
  2. Fill out the "Search Criteria,” using the following Tips:
    Using the drop-down menu indicate the specific class you are interested in.
    Be sure to indicate your preferred language
    LEAVE the "CITY” and "STATE” boxes empty, but enter your zip code.
    Under "Proximity” start with the "within 50 miles” box.
    Allow at least two months in the "Beginning Between” boxes.
    Click on "Search”
    If no classes come up, expand the "Beginning Between" boxes.
    If your search still doesn’t come up with a class, click on the bottom of the page to locate an instructor. Then use the instructor area codes to locate one near you and call to inquire about upcoming classes. There is a limit to the number of classes an instructor can post on the website at one time, so there may be some that don’t come up in a search.
