Whether this is your first visit, it’s been a few years since you’ve joined us, or you never miss a Show – you will still find this information helpful as the event is constantly changing and growing! The International Restaurant & Foodservice Show of New York takes place at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center over a total of three days - March 2-4, 2014. The education program, named The Ferdinand Metz Foodservice Forum, offers a number of sessions and events that are included with your registration; and they run the same three days of the event.

Pride of New York Marketplace features New York Beverages, New York Foods and New York Pride
The Pride of New York Marketplace will have dozens of small producers with great local products—from wines, beers, and spirits, to cheeses, meats, breads, fruits and vegetables, and much more. Pride of New York is a wonderful program run by the New York State Department of Agriculture & Markets to help people identify New York-produced foods and beverages. All of the exhibitors in the Marketplace are proud members of the Pride of New York program, and New Yorkers who pride themselves in offering only the best in handcrafted products. This area has been a hit of the show for the past several years, and is not to be missed.
Paris Gourmet Presents The 25th Annual U.S. Pastry Competition
The showpiece theme of this year’s Paris Gourmet’s U.S. Pastry Competition is Film Animation at the International Restaurant & Foodservice Show of New York on Sunday, March 2, 2014. Twenty rising stars of the pastry world have been selected to compete for the coveted title of Pastry Chef of the Year. The exciting event will take place from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM, with the awards ceremony at 4:00 PM. All attendees are invited to see the illustrious showpieces created by America's leading pastry chefs.
The main sponsor of the event, Paris Gourmet, is a leading specialty food importer and distributor based in New Jersey sourcing products worldwide, including North America. Other sponsors include Cacao Noel Chocolate, Pastry 1 (pastry ingredients), Beurremont Butter, Gourmand and Maison de Choix. New products from the sponsors will be on display as well.
Taking the Mystery Out of Umami
2014 is the 8th consecutive year that JRO (the Organization to Promote Japanese Restaurants Abroad) is hosting the Japan Pavilion. They will introduce eight new sections this year: Japanese Rice, Sake, Wagu, Umami, Ramen, Soba, Japanese Green Tea and sweets; all essential Japanese ingredients. The JRO Umami Pavilion has a joint mission to enlighten the industry about umami, the essence of Japanese cuisine that is becoming well known by chefs to develop flavor. JRO Umami Pavilion will host cooking demonstrations for three days to show "Wagu”, "Ramen”, how to make the best rice, how to enhance the umami flavor in dishes. There will also be discussions on Japanese condiments and the science of the flavor.
