27th Rochester Chapter Golf Tournament

It was a great day! No rain this year, just cool and sunny weather for 88 golfers. Picnic lunch was served before taking to the links where there were plenty of stops for beverages along the way. Our photographer got around to each foursome to have nice group picture taken from the course. Golfers bought tickets for a chance on winning $1000 for a hole in one. Doyle Chevrolet also had a car on the course which would have been driven home by a golfer who scored a hole in one on that hole. Unfortunately, no one won the car but they had fun trying. Great dinner followed golf and Ridgemont serves one of the best in town.

Prizes for closest to the pin and longest drives were awarded as well and first, second, third places and most honest! That $1000 dollar prize for the hole in one was not won for a hole in one, so it was raffled off at dinner. Pat Allen, from Pride Service won the $1000 cash and then gave it back for the scholarship fund! How's that for class. What a guy! Can't thank Pat enough for that super act of kindness.

Many golfers went home with various gift baskets they could share with family members. For instance, we were lucky enough to have four season tickets to Darian Lake Amusement Park, a sailing experience on a J35 super sail boat, rental of a pontoon boat for a day and cooking classes for two from the NYS Wine and Culinary Center in Canandaigua just to name a few. Fundraising went very well and we will soon have final figures, but they are terrific again this year for our support of scholarships and Pro Start. Thanks to all the generous support from our golfers and all the hard work done by chairman Scott Harper, his committee and all our volunteers. We are lucky for the great job done again by Joe Giordano at Ridgemont Country Club.
