2016 New York State ProStart Invitational

This past weekend students from all over New York State competed in the 12th Annual ProStart Invitational at Schenectady County Community College. ProStart is a national curriculum that teaches high school students culinary and restaurant management skills that helps prepare them for the rigors of the hospitality industry.

Over 115 students from 26 schools faced off in this year’s event, setting an all-time high for participation for the annual competition. Ulster County BOCES won first place in this year’s culinary competition while Putnam/Westchester BOCES took home the top prize on the management side of things. Both teams will now move on to represent New York State at the National ProStart Invitational April 29 – May 1, 2016, in Dallas, TX.

  • 1st Place: Ulster County BOCES
  • 2nd Place: GST BOCES: Bush Campus
  • 3rd Place: Carrier Educational Center
  • 4th Place: Oneida Herkimer Madison BOCES
  • 5th Place: GST BOCES: Wildwood Campus
Management Competition:
  • 1st Place: Putnam/ Northern Westchester BOCES
  • 2nd Place: Capital Region Career & Technical School: Schoharie Campus
  • 3rd Place: GST BOCES: Coopers Campus
  • 4th Place: Rockland BOCES
  • 5th Place: Eastern Long Island Academy of Applied Technology
