Late last week, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and the New York City Human Rights Commission released new regulations on pregnancy discrimination. Included in these new guidelines was language that prohibits restaurants and bars from refusing to serve pregnant women alcohol.
Two examples of violations listed in the regulations read:
A restaurant policy that prohibits staff from serving pregnant individuals raw fish or alcohol
A bouncer denies a pregnant individual entrance to a bar based on the belief that pregnant individuals should not be going to bars and/or drinking alcohol
