Make sure you know about all the new wage rates that were effective at midnight last night with our comprehensive guide! All employees working today should be earning at least the new minimums for all classes of workers.

Freeze the Cash Wage Campaign

The NYS Restaurant Association sent a letter to Governor Cuomo and legislative leaders asking them to freeze the cash wage for five years and put a moratorium on wage boards for tipped employees for the same amount of time. The letter was co-signed by over 100 restaurant owners! Thanks to all who signed on! This marks the first step in our push to make sure the tipped wage is not raised any further.

Our letter continued to receive substantial press coverage today: in the Wall Street JournalTime Warner Cable News.

This letter has already put the Governor and legislative leaders on notice that the industry cannot survive continuous wage increases, especially for tipped employees. The Association will continue to work to make sure legislators understand the issue and our position.

A note on Today in Politics:

The new format will still have all the info you need to make informed choices about your business in a quick, easy to read format but will be distributed just once a week instead of daily. Cheers to the New Year!
