Governor Cuomo Announces Wage Board for Fast Food Workers

Governor Cuomo announced today that he will be appointing a Wage Board to examine the adequacy of wages in the fast food industry.

"Singling out a sector of one industry to have a higher minimum wage than all other occupations is unfair and arbitrary," said Melissa Fleischut, President & CEO of the New York State Restaurant Association. "The minimum wage is rightfully set by the legislature and should affect all businesses equally."

This comes after Governor Cuomo recently called a Wage Board to examine tipped workers' wages, which ended with a 50% increase from $5.00 to $7.50.

The New York State Restaurant Association will be highly involved in this process and will keep you updated as details emerge.
