Recap of Hearing on Proposed Changes to Article 81
Thursday, January 29, 2015
This afternoon, the New York State Restaurant Association attended the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene hearing on proposed changes to Article 81 of the New York City Health Code and submitted comments.
The main objection of the Association deals with the proposed adoption of new fish freezing practices.
“This is a solution in search of a problem,” commented Hickey. “No cases have been reported that warrant adoption of this rule and if implemented would force restaurateurs to make large investments in new freezer infrastructure.”
Other concerns on proposed changes include pre-inspection openings, fresh juices, single service dispensing, and chemical sanitizers.
