The New York State Restaurant Association attended the Committee on Sanitation and Solid Waste Management hearing for a proposed legislation to reduce the use of carry out plastic bags. The proposed plastic-bag fee does not apply to sellers of on-the-go food or liquor. Restaurants in New York City will not be affected by the proposed plastic-bag fee. Other retailers including grocers, bodegas, clothing stores, and other similar merchants will be affected by the proposed legislation.
The Association submitted testimony at the hearing and will continue to monitor the legislation to ensure restaurants receive the most up-to-date information. For any questions, contact the NYC office at 212.398.9160 or email@example.com.
