Governor Cuomo Announces Wage Board Panel
Thursday, July 24, 2014
Following last year’s success in securing a freeze in tipped wage in the State’s minimum wage hike, as has long been expected, Governor Andrew Cuomo directed the Department of Labor today to convene a wage board to review current regulations for tipped food service and service industry workers and to make recommendations for changes.
The three-member panel will include the following:
Peter Ward – President, NY Hotel Trade Council
Heather Briccetti – President & CEO, NYS Business Council
Timothy Grippen – Former Broome County Executive and DOL Regional Representative for the Southern Tier
The Governor’s office called NYS Restaurant Association President and CEO, Melissa Autilio Fleischut, prior to the public announcement. We pledged to work closely as the Wage Board continues the productive partnership between the Cuomo Administration and our industry.
We expect this process to unfold quickly in the coming weeks and months, as the Governor has suggested an aggressive timeframe.
