April 3, 2014 – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives voted 248 – 179 in favor of the “Save Americans Workers Act”.

The legislation (H.R.2575) would change the definition of full-time employee under the Affordable Care Act from 30 hours a week back to a more traditional definition of 40 hours a week.

This vote was a “key vote” for our national partner the National Restaurant Association. The NYS Restaurant Association contacted every member in the U.S. House of Representatives from New York and asked them to support H.R.2575. The New York delegation voted party lines with all Republicans voting in favor and all Democrats voting against the measure.

Read the National Restaurant Association’s statement from Scott DeFife, Executive Vice President of Policy and Government Affairs.

We will keep you posted as this legislation moves to the Senate.
