BrooklynAllied Bars and Restaurants (BABAR) is organizing a fundraiser to benefit North
Brooklyn nonprofit Neighbors Allied for Good Growth (NAG). SHUCK YEAH!
will be held at Brooklyn Brewery on April 29th from 7 p.m.-10:30 p.m. It will
be an action packed night filled with oysters, cocktails, and ladies' arm
bars and restaurants include Brooklyn Brewery, Counting Room, Dram, Grand
Ferry, Hotel Delmano, Kinfolk Studios, Lighthouse, Nita Nita, The Richardson,
Soft Spot, Teddy’s Bar & Grill, The Woods, and Union Pool. Staff from a
number of bars and restaurants in North Brooklyn will compete in
oyster-shucking, cocktail-crafting, cocktail/oyster pairing and ladies’
arm-wrestling events for cold hard cash and bragging rights.
Tickets are $75 - all-inclusive drink & oyster

Neighbors Allied for Good Growth
Allied for Good Growth is a 501c(3) based in North Brooklyn advocating with and
for the people who live and work in Greenpoint and Williamsburg. NAG, formerly
known as Neighbors Against Garbage, formed in 1994 to fight the expansion of
the illegally operated waste transfer station on the North Brooklyn waterfront.
The campaign was a success, and the organization achieved its goal of turning
the land into a new state park: now East River State Park. NAG has since gone
on to secure much-needed greenspace and affordable housing, preserve viable
industrial and artisanal jobs and achieve development strategies that maintain
the neighborhood character in North Brooklyn.
