New York City Health Code Article 81 states that supervisors of food service establishments are required to obtain the NYC Food Protection Certificate and that there be at least one person holding a certificate on duty, at all times, during the establishments hours of food preparation and operation. The New York State Restaurant Association is authorized by the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene to offer this course. The Food Protection Certificate Course covers regulations and procedures regarding conditions for preparing food including, but not limited to; cooking temperatures, storage temperatures, source of foods, and arrangement and cleanliness of surfaces and storage space. Regulations regarding the proper operation of equipment, employee hygiene, toilet facilities, dishwashing, plumbing, lighting, and sewage and ventilation requirements are also examined. Educate as many members of your staff to ensure the safety of Food Preparation and Service in your Establishment!

Cost for the course is $195 per person (for NYSRA members) $250 for non-members
Days 1 & 2 are full days from 8:00am – 4:00pm held at NYSRA’s NYC office at 1001 Sixth Avenue, 3rd Floor, between 37-38th Streets (Prompt arrival is strongly suggested as the completion of 15 course hours is
required to take the exam)
Day 3 is the NYC Food Protection Exam and begins at 9:30 (location may vary and will be confirmed upon registration)
